Religion
(This is an excerpt from University Of Metaphysical Sciences course at www.umsonline.org, please feel free to visit the school website)
Religion is meant to be a vehicle for spiritual growth. It is formed around standards of behavior, doctrines and rituals. Religion can lay the foundation to a spiritual life. It is the beginning of forming a certain perspective, but it does not stop there. Many people may go to church, proclaim to be religious, but do not live a spiritual life. Religion does not automatically make you a spiritual person. It is how you live your daily life and how you implement spiritual teachings. Spirituality is not confined to religion for it is an intimate, personal relationship to the divine that is created within yourself. Religion provides support, teachings and community to elicit spiritual experiences but is not confined to a building for spiritual lessons.
