Introduction to Ear Candling
Ear Candling is an ancient process used by many cultures in history. It was often called ear coning, or ear cleansing, and was used in India, China, Egypt, Tibet, Aztec/Mayan cultures and even American Indians were privy to the process. Clay and stone pottery were designed for the procedure. Reeds from the Nile were used. Rolled up paper also works. These devices are still used in some traditions, but mostly cotton or linen cloth dipped in paraffin or beeswax is the process is still used today to heal ear conditions and is even taught to and practiced by medical doctors in some places.
The ancients, particularly the Egyptians also thought ear candling cleared the auras and spiritual center. Marian Brown, in her article Ear Candling—Removing a Lifetime of Debris (December 2002), explains, “It was believed to open and clear the spirit centers and refresh the auras.” The ancient Egyptians performed a series of 11 ear cleansings (not more than one week apart) so as to better hear God (Kirkgaard, 2005). Many testimonials claim that ear candling can increase a sense of well-being and clear the mind.
The ear candles are rolled in a spiral fashion, dipped in the wax and left to harden. When it is used to cleanse the ear, the smallest end is placed in the outer ear canal; the opposite larger end is lit and burns. It creates a spiral movement and a vacuum that draws the excess wax in the ear canal up and out. These candles are anywhere between 3/8” to 3/4” wide and 6” to 18” long. The most common ear candle is 1/2” by 12”.
Some of the conditions ear candling can cure, or at least relieve somewhat,
are candida in the ear canal, parasites, fungus, pollutants, extra wax,
ringing, infections, dirt, swimmer’s ear (caused by excess water
in the ear canal, resulting in swelling of the ear waxes), yeast, and
a multitude of other discomforts. A sign that these maladies are present
or unwanted materials in the ear canal is itching, burning, imbalance,
numbness, deafness and multitudes of other symptoms. When excess materials
are in the ear canal, nerve endings are blocked from picking up sound
frequencies (vibrations) that then cannot be “heard” through
the nerve endings.
Physical balance is very dependent on the ability to hear. People who
are deaf have unconsciously learned how to physically balance without
the ability to hear, but people who are not deaf have not developed this
alternate balancing ability. Often, people who have difficulty with balance,
if asked, also report problems with their ears. The ear contains acupuncture
points to every area of the physical body, the mind and the emotions through
meridians. If hearing is impaired, it disturbs this delicate balance in
the body.
Ear candling cleanses these nerve endings and creates a clear path for life force to flow to the body, mind and emotions. Ear candling not only affects the ear canal itself, but it also causes a chain reaction in the body. Sometimes this can trigger itchiness or inflammation of the lymphatic system, and cranial fluid is realigned. This is a good sign that the ear candling is working. The body is cleaning out the junk. It takes 24 hours for the ear wax to be regenerated. Repeated sessions could be done, more than one candle per ear can be used, and this will create terrific results in the chronic conditions of the ear canal. After this, ear candling can be done on an as-needed basis.
On the internet and in various books about ear candling, there are endless
testimonies to the effectiveness of ear candling. People report regaining
their physical balance, regaining hearing after long periods of not being
able to hear, alleviating infections that modern medicines could not cure,
relieving sinus pressure, headaches, neckaches and aching in the front
of the face, not needing hearing aids anymore, or turning them down, itching
stops, ringing stops, pain goes away, and all sorts of other testimonials.
